Employee Spotlight: Meet Asia Gibson, Reconciliation Analyst

August 4, 2022

Employee Spotlight is our blog series that features the fantastic individuals behind RoadSync.

Get to know a face that works behind the scenes of RoadSync. Meet one of our Reconciliation Analysts! We’re excited to sit with her to share her story in this month’s Employee Spotlight. You’ll learn about her role at RoadSync, career, interests, and more! Fun fact: if she could only wear one color for the rest of her life, it would be forest green. It’s a beautiful color that looks great with gold jewelry.

What is your role here at RoadSync, and what do you do on a day-to-day basis?

I am a reconciliation analyst, and I also process our checks. Typically, I am focused on balancing our ledger and making sure that what we are owed is adequately documented. Also, I deal with payments that don’t go through our API, and that’s where processing checks come into play.

What drew you to RoadSync initially? And how has RoadSync grown since you’ve been here?

Actually, a friend introduced me to RoadSync at the end of 2019. He had already been working at the company and knew of a few open positions. I initially joined the company part-time as a Customer Service Representative. Then I transitioned to the Check Operations team when I realized they needed a few more hands on their team.

What are your hobbies?

Recently, I started to get back into pottery making, but some of my main hobbies revolve around food. I love trying new recipes and finding new restaurants to share with others. I also enjoy food styling on the sets of movies and tv shows. When you see actors with food in front of them, or there’s a table with food displayed, it’s all strategically placed there to convey a specific feeling or paint a certain picture. All of that falls under props for a scene and requires styling and setup. I’m grateful to be the person who gets to do it!

If you could switch your job with anyone else within RoadSync, whose job would you want?

I would switch the product team if given a chance. I am very curious about learning more about how our product can help our customers, and doing that research intrigues me. I feel as if working within the product team is a good mixture of being behind the scenes and client-facing work.

What is your favorite dish that you have tried? And if you could eliminate one food so that no one would eat it ever again, what would you pick to destroy?

Shakshuka! It is a North African and Middle Eastern dish made of poached eggs in a simmering tomato sauce with spices. Not only does it taste good, but it’s a dish meant to be shared with others. I love eating good food with good people.

On the other hand, if I could get rid of any food, it would have to be Vienna sausages. They look ugly, taste horrible, and offer no nutritional value.

If you could interview a celebrity and ask them one question, who would you ask, and what would you say?

I would have loved to meet Anthony Bordain and ask him: If you could redesign society, what would you change? I admire how he was able to exist in this world and get paid to follow his passion for food. He is one of my inspirations, and I want to live like that someday.

Thank you for taking the time to meet Asia Gibson, our Reconciliation Analyst
